Crestone, Colorado is a small town at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the San Luis Valley. It is known for its dramatic mountain landscape and is a cultural center for many religions.  Surrounded by pristine alpine lakes, The Great Sand Dunes National Park, hiking trails, and numerous spiritual centers, the town is committed to sustainable living practices, including renewable energy use, social responsibility, and environmental preservation.  Local businesses are individually owned and sustainably maintained.  One gas station, one mercantile, and a few organic restaurants are rounded out by shops run by local artisans.  The town of Alamosa, Colorado is about 40 minutes South, should you need to occasionally venture out to a traditional grocery store or Wal-Mart.
